What I Believe
What I believe
I believe in an open dialogue and conversation with, and between the whole human race. This dialogue can happen between anyone who chooses to communicate. It doesn’t matter what nationality, what color your skin is, what religion you belong to, what sex you are or any of the many other differences that divide us as human beings. This blog is my attempt to have that relationship with anyone choosing to come and participate.
I believe God calls me as a Christian, (a follower of Christ), to be a light to the world. What that means to me is that like the first disciples, I am to share God’s love with all men, making disciples of them.
Matthew 28:19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
What does it mean to be a ‘Believer” or ‘follower of Christ’? A believer is someone who believes in Christ and has committed their life to following in his footsteps or guidance.
What does it mean to’ believe in Jesus’? To believe in him you must know who Jesus Christ is and claimed to be. Genesis 1:1 says; “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
John 1:1-3 says;” 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3. Through him all things were made;
Jesus Christ is both God and Son and the Holy Spirit all in one. An analogy might be the ability for a man to be a son, father and grandfather all at the same time. They can all be true at the same time representing different aspects of who the man is.
The Jewish leaders believed that Jesus was a prophet, but they killed him because he claimed that he was God, not a son of God but ‘The Son of God and God at the same time. This is an essential tenant of Christianity. This is what is talked about in John 3:16 ‘that whoever believes in him.’
I believe there are two types of people in the world today, those who have accepted Christ as their savior and are going to spend eternity in Heaven with him, and those who have not accepted Christ as savior. Of this group any who do not accept Christ before they die will spend eternity separated from him in a place known as the lake of fire, or Hell.
You might ask; what about all the differences between so called Christians?
I believe that there is one main verse in the Bible that talks about fellowship between believers:
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
If you tell me that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior as defined above then we can fellowship together as believers. Obviously there are some specific New Testament verses that give a few reasons to break fellowship with a believer but they are very specific and cover black and white issues of unrepentant on going sin. There are a lot of topics of scripture that have been debated through history and probably will continue to be debated until we are in Heaven.
I Believe in a lot of other Biblical ‘doctrines of the faith’ and will undoubtedly share them at times in my blog posts. If you disagree let me know and share your views, I am always interested in the study of God’s Word.
