More Divided Than Any Time Since 1860’s

Possible options on OBAMA CARE now:

If you are a Conservative, Constitution loving, freedom loving patriot this is the path I see moving forward;
1. House vote in July to repeal (call your representative)

2. Enough conservative patriots voted into the Senate in November to vote to repeal (Vote in November and educate others)

3. A conservative president is elected, (or at least Romney who promises to move to repeal it.)  (Vote in November and educate others)

4. If it stands, refuse to pay the taxes and fines and go to jail (Let your conscience be your guide)

5. Move to a state that refuses to enforce the law (Texas, Louisiana, ……..)

6. Civil War if the Federal Government continues Standard Operating Procedures (Pray that God will intervene)

7. Above all else be in prayer for our nation as it is more divided than at anytime since the 1860’s (When we fought the Civil War)

Zombies, Healthcare and Other Crazy News This Week

Good Saturday Morning!

Well, the coroner’s report is in this week on the man, individual, errr…zombie who ate the face off of another man in Florida at the end of last month.  The only drug in his system was …….marijuana.   If you will recall my post from May 27; Zombie Attack in Florida, much speculation was made concerning the probability that the person was on “bath salts”, a drug which causes the body temperature to spike and psychotic behaviors.  Now that we know it was not bath salts we are left with several pressing questions;

  1. Will marijuana cause this behavior?
  2. Is this individual really a zombie after all?
  3. Where is this zombie now?
  4. How many more zombies has he created?
  5. Why is his victim still in the hospital after all this time?
  6. Is his victim being treated for injuries or being quarantined to try to stop the spread of the zombie virus?

And probably the most pressing question today;

  1. How is the government able to hide this vast conspiracy against the American people?

I am sure there are logical explanations for all of the above questions; But in the crazy-world-turned-upside-down that we live in this week, why look for logical answers?  It is Saturday, I need a short break in all the news before I head out the door to work and I thought I would add my thoughts to some of these stories. Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death

Good Morning Joes and Janes;

This morning I have chosen something that is not really a devotional but rather a speech from our history.  Few Americans today have read the entire speech and only know a few words from it.  After yesterdays events I felt it speaks to feelings that many I talked to have.  I hope you will take a few minutes to read it.  As for myself, in regard to OBAMACARE, I care not what SCOTUS rules; I WILL NOT  COMPLY WITH THIS ONEROUS, EVIL LAW.  There is yet hope that a newly elected, conservative Congress can overturn this law and I will be actively involved in every peaceful means of overturning it.  In the long run though if it is not overturned I will go to jail before complying with the national healthcare mandate.

We are quickly approaching a time in the United States that will leave free, God fearing men and women little other choice than Patrick Henry had in March 1773.

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The question before the house is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at the truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.

Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the numbers of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth, to know the worst, and to provide for it.

I have but one lamp by which my feet are guided, and that is the lamp of experience. I know of no way of judging of the future but by the past. And judging by the past, I wish to know what there has been in the conduct of the British ministry for the last ten years to justify those hopes with which gentlemen have been pleased to solace themselves and the House. Is it that insidious smile with which our petition has been lately received?

Trust it not, sir; it will prove a snare to your feet. Suffer not yourselves to be betrayed with a kiss. Ask yourselves how this gracious reception of our petition comports with those warlike preparations which cover our waters and darken our land. Are fleets and armies necessary to a work of love and reconciliation? Have we shown ourselves so unwilling to be reconciled that force must be called in to win back our love? Let us not deceive ourselves, sir. These are the implements of war and subjugation; the last arguments to which kings resort. I ask gentlemen, sir, what means this martial array, if its purpose be not to force us to submission? Can gentlement assign any other possible motive for it? Has Great Britain any enemy, in this quarter of the world, to call for all this accumulation of navies and armies? No, sir, she has none. They are meant for us: they can be meant for no other. They are sent over to bind and rivet upon us those chains which the British ministry have been so long forging. And what have we to oppose to them? Shall we try argument? Sir, we have been trying that for the last ten years. Have we anything new to offer upon the subject? Nothing. We have held the subject up in every light of which it is capable; but it has been all in vain. Shall we resort to entreaty and humble supplication? What terms shall we find which have not been already exhausted? Let us not, I beseech you, sir, deceive ourselves. Sir, we have done everything that could be done to avert the storm which is now coming on. We have petitioned; we have remonstrated; we have supplicated; we have prostrated ourselves before the throne, and have implored its interposition to arrest the tyrannical hands of the ministry and Parliament. Our petitions have been slighted; our remonstrances have produced additional violence and insult; our supplications have been disregarded; and we have been spurned, with contempt, from the foot of the throne! In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation.

There is no longer any room for hope. If we wish to be free–if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending–if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained–we must fight! I repeat it, sir, we must fight! An appeal to arms and to the God of hosts is all that is left us! They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power. The millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Besides, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave. Besides, sir, we have no election. If we were base enough to desire it, it is now too late to retire from the contest. There is no retreat but in submission and slavery! Our chains are forged! Their clanking may be heard on the plains of Boston! The war is inevitable–and let it come! I repeat it, sir, let it come.

It is in vain, sir, to extentuate the matter. Gentlemen may cry, Peace, Peace–but there is no peace. The war is actually begun! The next gale that sweeps from the north will bring to our ears the clash of resounding arms! Our brethren are already in the field! Why stand we here idle? What is it that gentlemen wish? What would they have? Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Out of Nothing, But How?

I have been working 12 hour days this week and finding it hard to get a devotional post written.  Today I am sharing a post from The God Debates entitled A Cause.  I hope you find it stimulating.  This article looks at the existence of the Universe from an Atheistic viewpoint and then a Christian response.  The beginning is below and clicking on ‘Read the rest here:’ will take you to the rest of the story.

An Atheist’s Proposition:

It is simple: a universe can, and most importantly will, create itself out of nothing; ex nihilo; end of statement. This fact is undisputable; and to question it would be to question arguably the greatest physicists of our time, Stephen Hawking: go on – I dare you.

So what of a cause? The answer: a notable absence of any God, be it Allah, Zeus or He himself. We have been told that a law such as gravity can create an entire universe with its billions of galaxies each with billions of stars from what is literally emptiness. We have a why, and we can even answer how it was created: all it took was a bit of probability to swing our way, and our reality became reality. The God of the Gaps argument is no longer even necessary, in my opinion there are no gaps.

God’s Promises Are Eternal

Today I have a few thoughts on Romans chapter 11.  Israel is almost constantly in the news these days.  A lot of younger people don’t realize that the nation of Israel did not exist from 70 a.d until 1948.   It is the only nation to cease to exist and then be reborn.  It is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy and also a signal on Gods time line.  Paul speaks to Christians, warning them not to be conceited regarding Gods treatment of Israel.

Romans 11: 25-29

25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.

26 And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

27 And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”

28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs,

29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.

Christians both then and now can sometimes feel that we are better than the Jews.  That “the Jews crucified the Messiah and God has abandoned them forever.”  Nothing could be farther from the truth.  Yes, the Jews did play a major part in Christ’s crucifixion, but Jesus Christ went there as a planned event to die for all of our sins.  The “hardening in part” has an ending time.  That ending time is when the “full number of the Gentiles has come in”.  When exactly does that happen?  I can not tell you but here are a few things to consider:

In 1948 Israel became a nation after almost 2000 years.

In 1967 Israel took possession of Jerusalem after the 6 day war

While there are no hard numbers available, it is clear that in the past 20 years the number of Jews in Israel who have become Christians has risen dramatically.

The orthodox Jews are actively preparing to rebuild the Temple and have completed all of the temple artifacts, and blueprints for the temple.

Jews, including lost tribes, are returning to Israel in ever greater numbers

God is clearly beginning to work in the spiritual lives of the Jewish people!  Many other prophecies from both the Old and New Testament are being fulfilled and the stage is being set for Christs physical return to earth!  As Paul alludes to in verse 28, the Jews considered the Christians to be enemies.  Even that is changing today as Christians and Jews have an ever more open dialogue.

As promised in both Psalms 14:7 and Isaiah 59:20-21, “the Deliverer will come out of Zion (Jerusalem) and turn away the ungodliness of Jacob”  God’s promises are everlasting.  God’s covenants with His chosen people, the Jews, while partially set on the back burner, are going to be kept and fulfilled.  Pray for the Jewish people, that God will move in their hearts.  Pray that we will be a witness to them whether they are in Israel or our neighborhood.  Pray for the Gentile people that their “number” would be filled,  (referring to verse 25).

These are exciting times that we are living in!
